Today as I write this, it is October 8th, day 24 of the Prosperity Experiment.
When I got to my computer bright and early and there was no e-mail my thoughts in quick succession were: My e-mail doesn’t work because I didn’t pay my phone bill; I wasn’t getting the e-mail because I wasn’t a “good” participant (even as that thought formed I knew that wasn’t so); suppose it comes late and I run out of time; etc. I became fidgety. Then I decided to use the time to go back over some of the days — especially those I had missed. That’s when I came across the quote from Sri Aurobindo.
It had a profound effect on me. I had to read it several times. It hit me emotionally in ways I’m not even sure of yet. Some of it an awareness, some of those emotions a sadness, some of them a settling down and nestling in.
Gosh, the conotations money has. The feelings it provokes. The meanings I attach to it — esspecially to not having it.
I almost literally feel myself shrinking… from friends, from family, from life, from myself. Not having money fills me with panic and despair. It dregs up feelings of unworthiness, shame, of wanting to hide. And yet, I create the situation of not having money over and over in my life.
I did not grow up poor. I never went without anything. I grew up in a loving, secure home. I don’t know why the panic, but clearly there are some feelings I’m deeply attached to, that lie just below the surface when I have money and I keep summoning to the top by creating lack of money.
It could be simply that money was never discussed, or that I was not held accountable when I spent my allowance and needed more, or that I got mixed messages from a father who was generous without question and a mother who was generous after pointing out that money didn’t grow on trees (while pointing out the apple tree outside our kitchen door Could it be that, though I was a shy child, I had an adverturous spirit, however was always encouraged to be safe? (I defied that, by the way, by making one adventurous career choice after another.)
I don’t know and I don’t need to know. This quote somehow bypasses all that. It takes money out of the realm of the human and places it on a higher plane.
It is not up to me to create money in my life. It is up to me to create the space in my life for money — and all other forms of abundance — to reside.
I know that’s the point of all this and of all my Metaphysical learning over the years. Somehow this quote brought it home.
Just today I woke up questioning whether my two job offers, both commission, were a gift offering me personal growth and unlimited income or, if having no set pay that I would start receiving right away was me manifesting much-needed work, but with no money. I’ve been fretting about that all morning. Now I’ll stop fretting and worrying and focus on creating the space for my abundance. If it’s this position, it will happen. If it’s not, something else will happen. As long as I remain open to receiving.
I’m going to make a copy of this quote, put it on my walls and carry it with me, so when I slip back to old familiar thoughts, I can remember and re-center quickly. Thank you.

My feelings on money:
Money is energy, at the source of all creation energy is what flows freely. Our connection to money can be positive or negative depending on the context in which we hold around the idea of money. Like energy, money is expansive and has no limit. As individuals we subconsciously put limits on things that seem intangible. When in reality everything is tangible if you believe that all things are created divinely equal. Everything we could every want and/or need in this lifetime is within us. Feeling the energy around and through money makes it tangible and abundant. It is within us to recognize the benefits of what we believe and manifest. Aka: Cause and effect. It’s reasonable to believe that the law of attraction will deliver what we think about most. Whether it be lack or abundance is up to us.

Yes Money is Divine! Earlier this year I was attracted to a book called, Money is Love – Reconnecting to the Sacred Origins of Money by Barbara Wilder. The book began to change my perception of money, the value and quality of money, sourced in the divine. I understand that the Divine Presence I AM is the source and substance of my supply. And as I cultivate a more loving relationship with money, with the divine, with myself, I attract more love, money and acceptance of my divinity, that I’m divine, having a human experience and I claim greater expressions of the kingdom/queendom on earth, where I prosper in wisdom, health, spirit, love, wealth, freedom, joy, peace, gratitude, harmony, alignment….and all things pure and good.

Hello Mary C,
I hope you are continuing to read comments after your post. I feel compelled to write. Please remember
that you are the Divine itself. Just because there is debt or lack in your life does not mean that isn’t true.
Money is only one visible evidence and money is not the only way to experience the fullness of life, it helps.
Debt or lack should be a wake up call for us. So should the quote. It reminds us that there is more. And
when you add the quotes on choosing and being the chooser, they also should help serve as a wake up.
People with money don’t have more God or Universal Force.
(You are not lacking God because you may not see money in
your life right now). People with money are simply better at making choices about money than we are. I am writing this because I, all too well, understand how you are feeling. We have made those incorrect choices about money. We were well over $1,000,000. in debt just recently. Yes, the figure
is correct and extremely scary. But through better choices, we are moving forward and paying those debts.
At one point we were both without jobs and had all that debt. I found myself thinking similar thoughts about
God, Divine and the Universe. But money is only one energy frequency in an endless number of energy
frequencies. What we need to do is learn how to tune in the frequency of money energy. We do this through
our choices and our thoughts. Take heart, we can learn how to make better choices. We can learn how to
change our thoughts. It takes time and being kind with oneself. There are so many good people here engaged
in this experiment. We all send our energies to each other and its a wonderful feeling. You, Mary, are a
wonderful spirit being and you are Divine. Nothing can take that away. Choose the better life. We’re all here
to help.

this quote is telling me that money is the gift of spirit so that i can have the best fun possible in this physical life. i, a spiritual being, came to this physical plane and the universe gave me a means in which to enjoy it. therefore money is spiritual and a blessing and i deserve plenty of it. to embrace this in my life i have been reading Secrects of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Ecker and it has been transformational. I see how so many of my thoughts have been poor thoughts and now I am transforming them to rich ones. What I really want to do is go to his seminar and i’m terrified to do it, but i just made the commitment to push through fear and do things anyway!

Essentially, the quote says that money is energy and since all energy comes from Source, money is connected to Source. Other than that I agree with that, the quote itself doesn’t resonate with me, partly because the language is a bit obscure. I understand that money is simply energy and as such is attracted or repelled by our own energy. I still need to make the shift from my money-repelling beliefs to money-attracting beliefs. It’s happening slowly, but surely.

I feel depressed and sad when I read that quote. If money is a visible sign of the universal force, then I guess there is no Universal Force in my life. And when there is incredible debt-then what does that mean? That I am void of any Universal Force?? Yes, money is absolutely needed to experience the fullness of life. In fact, I tell my son that money CAN buy happiness IF, and only if, you are happy at your core. But, if money is the visible sign of the universal force…does that mean that people with more money have more God?

inspiration that what I want to do & create is possible – and for proof, several
examples of others who are doing it
easy parking spaces – (NOT easy in NYC)
a free visit to a museum
a free delicious dinner at the museum – courtesy of my friend & the chef
a new decision to upgrade my apartment & move in with my best friend on a
pretty & historic tree-lined street
an afternoon photographing the city – which I haven’t done in years

and so much more. Soooo grateful.

Thank you for this quote – It reminds me that money is energy. I am directing my energy more and more, and watching all sorts of things come to me: some money, lots of people, inspirations, fun, and mostly — appreciation. The more I direct positively, the more I am appreciating. I just reread several posts from my gratitude journal – and I cannot believe how much I have in my life to be thankful for. Opportunities, gifts, sunny days, friends, generosities, insights, ideas…blessings large and small.

As money is the primary way that we understand how to exchange on this earth, to know that it is divine in nature is to release so many limiting thoughts – I want to keep repeating that. Money is the divine energy as a medium here on earth. Just as a card in the mail brings love to another, money is a carrier of our desires, come true.

A full life can be achieved with money and a healthy approach to it. I can have all I want – because by letting go of ideas that having money should make me feel guilty, I can allow the wonderful-ness that feels true when I embrace the right way, the right home, the right environment. It’s not only OK to feel at home in a wealthy neighborhood, but because I feel so comfortable in really nice surroundings, I now am recognizing that it’s my right path – that it’s divinely inspired. I can surrender to that natural feeling. I can let go of any guilt or negative connotation. I can live in a beautiful place and be proud of it.
